All applicants planning to study at a university or TVET college in South Africa are invited to fill out the NSFAS Online Application form for 2023 before 31 January 2023. However, the application dates have been posted on NSFAS official website. To learn more about the online application portal, please visit www.nsfas.org.za. Applications for 2023 will not be accepted after the deadline.
How do I Check my NSFAS Application Status 2023-2024?
After your application for NSFAS Funding 2023, you will be notified by SMS or email if your application has been approved or denied. To know if you are “Provisionally Funded”, you must log on to “myNSFAS Account Portal”. To do that, follow the steps below:
- Visit my NSFAS website at www.my.nsfas.org.za
- Type your User ID in the space provided
- Enter your Password
- Then, click on “Track Funding Progress”

NSFAS Bursary Application 2023-2024: How do I Apply?
Application for NSFAS 2023-2024 academic year can be made via the online application portal. To apply online via the myNSFAS Student Portal, follow the guidelines below:
- Go to www.nsfas.org.za
- Create an account with myNSFAS.
- On the NSFAS website, click “Apply”
- Make sure you have all the required information and are up-to-date before proceeding
- Then, upload your supporting documents
- Once you have completed the process, click “SUBMIT”.
PLEASE NOTE: To apply for NSFAS Funding 2023, you must complete and submit your application online. Your application will not be processed and NSFAS will not be able to fund you if it is incomplete.
The NSFAS funding application period for the 2023-2024 academics is open until 31 January 2023 for prospective students. As a result, if you wish to apply for NSFAS 2023, you will need the following information.
- Your own cellphone number and email address
- A copy of your ID or birth certificate
- A copy of your parent’s, guardian’s, or spouse’s ID
- You will need to provide proof of your income or IRP5 for the past year (if applicable).
- Proof of income from your parents, guardians, or spouse
- No proof of income is required of SASSA grant recipients.
- The Disability Annexure A Form must be completed and signed by all applicants with disabilities
- A completed and signed Vulnerable Child Declaration and Consent Form must also be submitted by all applicants who have been recognized as vulnerable children by the Department of Social Development.
When are NSFAS Applications for 2023 opening?
If you wish to apply for NSFAS 2023, please visit www.nsfas.org.za between 28 September and 31 January 2023. Late applications for 2023 will not be accepted by NSFAS.
TVET Colleges NSFAS Application 2023-2024
The NSFAS application system is open until 31 January 2023 when the results of the National Senior Certificate are released. In addition to the online application and walk-in assistive capture applications, the National Certificate Vocation (NC(v)) is available every year at the beginning of semester 1 and trimester 1. DHET calendar trimesters 2 & 3 in May & September, also walk-in assistive capture applications
A walk-in application for assistive capture will be accepted during Semester 2 from June to July
How do I Apply for TVET College Funding in 2023-2024?

TVET Colleges NSFAS Requirements for 2023-2024
- This bursary scheme is only available to South African citizens
- A student must be registered at a public TVET college in South Africa that offers PLP, NC(V), or Report 191 programmes.
- An NSFAS evaluation of a student’s financial need will determine eligibility for financial assistance.
- Upon returning to the College, all students must demonstrate proven and acceptable academic performance (academically deserving) in accordance with the College’s progress policy or the Bursary Rules and Guidelines (whichever is higher).
- It is not advisable for candidates to enroll in a qualification that duplicates previous state-funded learning
- The maximum family income threshold is R350,000 per annum, and applicants who are admitted/receive a firm offer for enrolment in a college qualify.
The NSFAS Re-application and Registration Process 2023-2024
Applicants must create a myNSFAS account or re-register a myNSFAS account to apply and register online for 2023-2024. The following steps will walk you through the process:
- Visit the NSFAS website: www.nsfas.org.za
- Click on “myNSFAS” at the top right corner of the page
- A welcome message will appear on the myNSFAS page
- Enter your username (email address) and password to re-register your myNSFAS account
- Click on “Register” if you wish to register. Before registering your profile, please ensure that you have a copy of your South African ID or unbridged birth certificate.
- If you want NSFAS to verify and validate your information with third parties, please check the box
- Enter your ID number as it appears on your ID document
- In the space provided, type your full name and surname as per your ID number
- Please enter your current email address
- Make sure your email address is valid
- Ensure that your cellphone number is entered
- Choose a password that you prefer
- After that, you confirm your password
- Copy your ID document and upload it
- Please click on register to receive a one-time password
- Your email address and cellphone number will receive a One Time Pin (OTP) that will expire in 24 hours.
