The International Academic Programmes Office (IAPO) at UCT assists foreign students and researchers from more than 100 countries who enrol in taught courses and want to conduct research at UCT. IAPO offers letters of support for visa applications for study and research at UCT, as well as advice on immigration-related requirements and advocacy for students facing visa issues. It also informs students on foreign tuition and housing expenses, the costs of living in Cape Town, and the support services offered at UCT to assist students with their transition. Before any foreign student may be enrolled at UCT, the staff of IAPO verify, collect, and upload their immigration-related papers (passport, visa, and medical aid) and tuition price payments to the student’s record system.
