UKZN Application Dates for 2024-2025

The University of KwaZulu-Natal, UKZN Online Application Dates for the 2024-2025 Academic cycle is open from 30 April 2023 to 30 September 2023. Please, visit www.ukzn.ac.za application portal for 2024 dates and deadlines. No Late Applications will be accepted by UKZN for any reason.

  • Medicine: 30th June 2023 (no late applications)
  • All other undergraduate programmes: 30th September 2023

Postgraduate programmes open on 30 April 2023

Closing dates for Postgrad Diploma/Certificate and Honours

  • Semester 1: 30 September 2023
  • Semester 2: 30 April 2023

Masters (Coursework):

  • Semester 1: 31 October 2023
  • Semester 2: 30 April 2023

Masters (Research) and Doctoral studies: No closing date

UKZN Admission Requirements 2024

For admission to undergraduate degree studies, applicants must be in
possession of:

  • Either the National Senior Certificate for degree studies (NSC-Deg); OR
  • Senior Certificate with endorsement (obtained before 2008).

For admission to undergraduate diploma studies, applicants must possess:

  • Either the National Senior Certificate for diploma studies (NSC-Dip)
  • The Senior Certificate (obtained before 2008);

In addition, as the medium of instruction at UKZN is English, a minimum of either is required:

  • Level 4 pass in English as Home Language (HL) or First Additional Language (FAL) for NSC; OR
  • A 50% (D) pass in English HG as First or Second Language for Senior Certificate
  • NSC applicants must have obtained a Level 4 pass in Life Orientation.
