UKZN Edgewood Campus Durban, which was formerly known as the Edgewood College of Education before it was incorporated in 2001, is the university’s main location for teacher preparation and the seat of the school of education. An increasing number of education students can take advantage of the campus’ advanced and appealing facilities, which are located close to all the essential amenities in Pinetown and have easy access to the N3 motorway and Durban. The School conducts research and offers consulting services in addition to providing initial and continuing education for teachers. It also grants universities higher degrees in a variety of educational specialities. Through participation in international conferences, instruction of international students, hosting of overseas visitors, and publication in foreign publications and journals, the School actively participates in shaping educational policy in South Africa and raises the university’s visibility abroad.
UKZN Edgewood Application
when the University of KwaZulu-Natal (UKZN) debuts its online presence in 2024, the steps outlined below:
- Visit the UKZN website and select “Apply” from the top menu.
- Click “Undergraduate Applications” or “Postgraduate Applications” depending on your level of study.
- Review the instructions and prerequisites for the application in detail.
- Click the “Apply Online” button to start the application process.
- You can establish an account by providing your name and email address.
- Fill in all the required fields in the online application form, including your academic history, contact details, and personal information.
- Upload any required supporting documents such as academic transcripts and ID/passport.
- Pay the application fee online using a credit/debit card or e-wallet.
- Submit your application and wait for a response from UKZN.
Apply via CAO Online Application Form
- Check the CAO handbook that provides listings of qualifications available at the different institutions.
- Look through the various courses offered and choose a programme that interests you and for which you may qualify.
- Find the programme code that is linked to the qualification that you have chosen. This code needs to be entered on the application form.
- Use this programme code when completing the CAO form 2024, which is available from the CAO, the CAO website
- Apply online, by completing the online application form on the website: www.cao.ac.za
Because application deadlines could differ depending on the intended program of study, it is imperative to apply well in advance of the deadline.

- Applications for all qualifications open on 30 April and close on30 September 2023
College of Health Science
- Nelson R Mandela School of Medicine opens on 30 April and closes on30 June 2023 (no late applications)
- Health Sciences (including Nursing open on 30 April and close on30 September 2023 (no late applications)
College of Humanities

How Can I log in to UKZN Student Central
You need to follow these simple instructions in order to access UKZN’s Student Central;
- Navigate directly to the Student Central Page through this link https://sc.ukzn.ac.za/
- Input your student number in the field.
- Click proceed.
- Then, input your password to log in.
UKZN Edgewood Application Fee 2024-2025
- A non-refundable online application fee of R210 is payable to UKZN (with a late fee of R420)
- If students apply before 31 October 2023, the CAO application fee is R250.
- If students apply from 1 November 2023 onwards, the CAO application fee is R470.
Needed Documents for UKZN Edgewood Application
All prospective applicants should remember to upload the following documents (where applicable)
- Certified copy of your ID/passport.
- Certified copy of your National Senior/Matric Certificate or O/A Levels or relevant school leaving qualification/certificate.
- Proof from Universities South Africa (previously known as HESA), that you qualify for admission to degree studies at South African universities if you are an international applicant.
- Certified copies of your degree certificate(s), academic record, and certificate of conduct, if you attended other universities.
- Proof of English proficiency for International applicants from non-English speaking countries.
- South African Qualifications Authority (SAQA) evaluations if the previous qualification(s) was/were obtained at foreign universities (outside South Africa).
- A research proposal/proposed title of the dissertation/thesis if you are applying for a Masters’s Degree or PhD.
- A valid study visa to study in SA if you are an International applicant.
- USAF/SAQA documents are to be uploaded in order to complete your application.
- Ensure to use reference APPN (followed by your student number) when making application fee payments.
UKZN Edgewood Financial Aid And Accommodation
- The University has a policy of granting financial aid and rooms in residence only to students who have a reasonable chance of completing a programme.
- Financial aid and a place in residence will continue if a student’s academic performance is satisfactory. Students in doubt must consult with the Student Funding Centre to determine if further funding will be available.
- If there is a poor chance of funding, it is sensible to start making alternative arrangements or enquire about less expensive study options.
