Applications are currently being welcomed from students who intend to enrol in the College for the 2024 academic year on either the Westville or Pietermaritzburg campus. prospective B.Ed. honors student without a degree (but who has ACE, HDE and FDE). BACHELOR OF EDUCATION (HONOURS)

The purpose of the B.Ed. Hons
- The B.Ed. Hons is designed to improve the abilities of experienced educators such as curriculum specialists, system managers, or educational researchers. Students who obtain this certificate will be prepared to begin a course of study leading to an M.Ed. at HEQF level 9.
- For this degree, students must select a concentration and complete their own independent research project. While there are many reasons why students can seek an honours degree, its main objective is to create the foundation for future academic study and research.

Who Qualifies To Apply For Honours At UKZN
a) Candidates may register for the Honours qualification at any College if they possess the following:
completed a Bachelor’s degree that the relevant college deemed acceptable; received admission to the status of that degree under Rule GR7(a); or demonstrated the level of competence outlined in Rule GR7 (b).
b) A College may impose additional minimal requirements for enrollment in study.
All applicants must have earned a degree with a major in education.
OR
All applicants are required to have completed any other relevant Degree for the specialisation and these applicants are also required to have completed a postgraduate certificate in education (PGCE) qualification.

The deadline for applications is September 30, 2018. In November, selection will start. If chosen, you must pay an R250 acceptance fee by the first week of January to reserve your spot..

- Teacher Development Studies (Edgewood and Pietermaritzburg)
- Technology Education (Edgewood)
PLEASE NOTE: Not all specializations are offered every year

The Closing date for applications is 30 September. Selection will begin in November. If you are selected, an R250 acceptance fee is payable by the first week of January to secure your place.
