Application form for the UKZN Honors program, Applicants may now submit an application to the University if they want to enroll at either the Pietermaritzburg or the Westville campus during the 2024–2025 academic year. Applications can be submitted online. Please proceed as directed by the instructions at https://erpweb.ukzn.ac.za/pls/ukznint/gen.gw1pkg.gw1startup?x processcode=UKZN. REQUEST. The application deadline is September 30. Selection will start in November. You must submit an R250 acceptance fee by the first week of January to secure your position if you are chosen.

The purpose of the B.Ed. Hons
- The B.Ed. Hons are made to enhance the skills of knowledgeable teachers, curriculum experts, system managers, or educational researchers. By earning this credential, students will be ready to start a program of study leading to an M.Ed. at HEQF level 9.
- For this degree, students must select a concentration and complete their own independent research project. While there are many reasons why students can seek an honours degree, its main objective is to create the foundation for future academic study and research.

Who Qualifies To Apply For Honours At UKZN
a) Applicants may be registered for the qualification of Honours in any College, provided that they have:
completed a Bachelor’s degree that the relevant university deemed acceptable; received admission to the status of that degree under Rule GR7(a); or demonstrated the level of competence outlined in Rule GR7 (b).
b) A College may prescribe further minimum criteria for admission to study.
All applicants are required to have completed a Degree majoring in Education.
OR
All applicants must have earned any other degree that is pertinent to the specialization, and these applicants must also hold a postgraduate certificate in education (PGCE).
