The University of KwaZulu-Natal (UKZN) has begun accepting late applications for undergraduate and graduate studies for the academic year 2024. Your application has a deadline, so send it as soon as you can, if at all possible. At the end of February, applications for graduate and undergraduate pupils expire. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS FOR LATE APPLICATIONS TO University of Kwazulu Natal

The following minimum standards must be met by candidates in order to be accepted:

  • ENGINEERING: a matric point score of 33, and a minimum matric pass of 65% for Core Maths and Physics.
  • AGRICULTURE AND SCIENCE: a matric point score of 28, and a minimum matric pass of 50% for Core Maths and any Science.
  • ACCESS PROGRAMME (CASSE): a matric point score of 26, and a minimum matric pass of 40% for Core Maths and any Science.

  • Go to the UKZN website and select “Apply” from the top menu.
  • Depending on your level of study, click “Undergraduate Applications” or “Postgraduate Applications.”
  • Take the time to carefully review the guidelines and requirements for the application.
    To begin your application, click the “Apply Online” option.
  • By entering your contact information and email address, you may create an account.
  • Fill out the online application form completely, including the fields for your academic background, contact information, and personal data.
  • Upload any necessary supplementary materials, such as IDs and passports or academic transcripts.
  • Pay the application fee online using a credit/debit card or e-wallet.
  • Submit your application and wait for a response from UKZN.

Apply via CAO Online Application Form 2024-2025

  1. Check the CAO handbook that provides listings of qualifications available at the different institutions.
  2. Look through the various courses offered and choose a programme that interests you and for which you may qualify.
  3. Find the programme code that is linked to the qualification that you have chosen. This code needs to be entered on the application form.
  4. Use this programme code when completing the CAO form 2024, which is available from the CAO, the CAO website
  5. Apply online, by completing the online application form on the website: www.cao.ac.za

It is vital to apply long before the deadline because application dates may change based on the planned program of study.

UKZN Online Application Fee 2024-2025

  • A non-refundable online application fee of R210 is payable to UKZN (with a late fee of R420)
  • If students apply before 31 October 2023, the CAO application fee is R250.
  • If students apply from 1 November 2023 onwards, the CAO application fee is R470.

Needed Documents for UKZN Online Application 2024-2025

All prospective applicants should remember to upload the following documents (where applicable)

  • Certified copy of your ID/passport.
  • Certified copy of your National Senior/Matric Certificate or O/A Levels or relevant school leaving qualification/certificate.
  • Proof from Universities South Africa (previously known as HESA), that you qualify for admission to degree studies at South African universities if you are an international applicant.
  • Certified copies of your degree certificate(s), academic record, and certificate of conduct, if you attended other universities.
  • Proof of English proficiency for International applicants from non-English speaking countries.
  • South African Qualifications Authority (SAQA) evaluations if the previous qualification(s) was/were obtained at foreign universities (outside South Africa).
  • A research proposal/proposed title of the dissertation/thesis if you are applying for a Masters’s Degree or PhD.
  • A valid study visa to study in SA if you are an International applicant.
  • USAF/SAQA documents are to be uploaded in order to complete your application.
  • Ensure to use reference APPN (followed by your student number) when making application fee payments.

UKZN University Financial Aid And Accommodation

  • The University has a policy of granting financial aid and rooms in residence only to students who have a reasonable chance of completing a programme.
  • Financial aid and a place in residence will continue if a student’s academic performance is satisfactory. Students in doubt must consult with the Student Funding Centre to determine if further funding will be available.
  • If there is a poor chance of funding, it is sensible to start making alternative arrangements or enquire about less expensive study options.
