Students must come in for registration for the first semester in January and for the second semester at the start of July. NO PROVISIONAL REGISTRATION IS ALLOWED FOR INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS. On the website, you may find schedules and details about the locations of the classes:

How much is ufs registration fee
The registration period:
- International students should contact the Office of International Affairs before commencing registration.
- First-time research masters and doctoral students can register throughout the year. Please contact your faculty for assistance.
- First-time and returning (honours and PGDip) registration will take place according to your faculty advising schedule. Please visit your faculty website for more information: https://www.ufs.ac.za/templates/faculty-list
- Returning master’s and doctoral students can register during the official registration period (30 January – 31 March 2023 for the first semester or a year program and 17 July – 21 July 2023 for the second semester) and NOT during the month they initially registered.
- Last date to add or change modules for Honours and PGDip students: is 24 February 2023.
- Last day to cancel modules with financial credit: 31 March 2023 for the first semester and 15 August 2023 for the second semester.

Checklist for registration
- Students must have a current student visa issued by the UFS. It is not permissible to use a student visa that was issued for another institution. No international student may register unless they have a current study visa that has been issued by the UFS.
- To cancel the block on your student account, please bring the following documents with you on the day that you will be registering:
- Passport
- Study visa
- Proof of payment of registration deposit (for more information on finances, please visit the website, then click on fees calendar for more detailed information)
- Original documentation as submitted with your application
- SAQA/USAf verification document (SAQA – POSTGRADUATE, USAf – UNDERGRADUATE)

The following steps will guide your registration process:
- Verify the validity of your UFS password.
- Complete the PeopleSoft Campus Solutions registration agreement’s mandatory registration task (student portal)
- Make the first payment that is necessary or provides proof that a loan or bursary has been granted.
- Inquire with your faculty about the curriculum.
- Continually enroll (register) as instructed by your professor.
- Check Blackboard to confirm your modules. Before logging into Blackboard, wait 24 hours.
- Use Blackboard to access your study materials.
